the 3Day
In T minus 2 weeks, we'll be walking in The Breast Cancer 3Day.
Every year in November, the streets of Phoenix are filled with people wearing pink t-shirts, pink hats, pink feather boas and just about everything pink you can imagine. Traffic detours around thousands of pink clad walkers making their way through a 60-mile maze on Phoenix streets. This year, I will be one of those walkers.
I have spent the last several months training with my mom and sister for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk for a cause devoted to helping women discover breast cancer early enough to beat it and committed to finally finding a cure. Without a cure, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer.
My Aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly five years ago. She is a survivor. She has served as the main source of my education about breast cancer, teaching me how to be smart. I am walking in her honor. A very close family friend was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over a year ago. She was one of the most caring and compassionate women I have ever known. Even in the face of her fight, she focused her attention on those around her and offered support for the struggles in their life. Her strength was truly amazing. I am walking in her honor.
You may know someone who has been affected by breast cancer and I would be proud to walk in her honor as well.
I have committed to raising $2,200 to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to help me achieve my goal.
At the very least, please check out the new website: www.the3day.org and get up to speed on the issue, learn more about the 3-Day event, and see how the Komen Foundation is dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage.
Thank you for your support!
